This is a news that will especially interest Indians because many Indians are wedded to their Nokia phones and Intel is present every where in PCs.Intel and Nokia have come together to announce a strategic partnership in mobile computing. For this purpose Intel has acquired IP license of Nokia HSPA/3G modem. This license will help Intel develop architecture for all the future Wi Fi and WiMax products.
At present both companies enjoy a relationship that goes back some time. It is obvious they are leveraging this relationship to come out with products in mobile computing of the future. As to the direction these products will head has not yet been announced. If Intel has kept its side of Agreement under wraps.
Considering the scenario of mobile computing today, Apple is already ahead with its iPhones and its latest offering iPhone 3GS will be making its presence felt in couple of months.. RIM (Research In Motion) is entering India with its Black Berry. Google has already partnered with Android and programmers have been offered a quarter million dollars as prize money for apps that will be voted by users. It is obviously not software that Nokia is interested in. It is rather the hardware that Intel is interested in for coming out with architecture that it hopes all the participants will follow.
Nokia is already supporting Linux based open sourced Operating System in the “Maemo” and Moblin” platforms. The strategic Agreement also includes development of software products for the next generation of mobile computing devices.
Would it mean Intel will also get into software?
What is going to be the nature of mobile computing devices of the future?
Well our guess is as good as yours.

The Nokia N97 is the new flagship device from Nokia and the firm seems to have made sure there are plenty of surprises awaiting the average user. The design is simple and it weighs 150g with the minimum number of function keys on the main body. The bright and clear touch screen display adds to the beauty of the Nokia N97.
Nokia has bundled a whole slew of apps with the Nokia N97 but you can add more from the Ovi Store. Thus, enabling you to make the most of downloading apps and games. The audio quality is loud and sharp and you can add 16 GB to the already 32 on-board memory capacity that the phone comes with through the use of a micro SD memory card. The Home screen has been designed to be more intuitive and interactive from the start. By holding down the screen and the Settings tab allows you to populate each zone with the widgets and apps you use the most.
Camera
The 5-Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, comes with a decent autofocus facility that works really well. You can record videos in widescreen 16:9 as well as standard 4:3 aspect ratio and with dedicated shot and zoom buttons. Also, there is a secondary camera for in-phone video. Besides, it is packed with onboard GPS, so you can geo-tag images and video. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi act as the standard for transferring images and other files.
QWERTY
The keyboard is full QWERTY, and comes with a navigation pad on the left-hand side. The keys feel great but there seems to be quite a lot of space that could have been used by having slightly larger keys. The navigation pad works exceedingly well and so does the rather small Space bar. However, the secondary function key being down on the right-hand side is a bit odd, as it would have been a more natural fit on the left-hand side.
Multimedia Tools and Interent Surfing
The Nokia N97 is a high-end business phone with emphasis on email, messaging and staying in touch. However, you would be surely impressed with the multimedia features it also has, making this a great smart phone for people to aspire to owning.

The Nokia 5800 from the stable of Nokia is its first phone that functions on the touch responsive screen platform, which is the current rage from all the cell phone manufacturers. This phone with dimensions of 111x 51.7x 15.5 does not differ significantly with the other members of its generation in size. The instrument appears durable. The touch responsive screen pleasingly detects the touch of a finger. The screen has a resolution 360 x 640 pixels. Surprisingly the touch responsive coating of the LCD screen does not affect its brightness and accuracy of which Nokia takes pride in.
When in conversation the responsiveness of the screen is disconnected. This ensures that even if a part of the ear touches the screen during conversation it does not respond. At the bottom of the screen are send, end and home keys which enable you to control conversations without the use of the screen.
The top of the device has the standard port of power, audio/video and USB. To the right are the keys for control of volume, camera and control of the slide. The doors for the SIM and memory cards are to the left. The auto focus 3.5 MP camera with a flash is to the behind.
The device is mid range and is expected to have variations depending on the region.
