The App Store has grown to become the world’s largest wireless applications store, with over 65,000 applications in the last one year. There are several applications that have been rejected on the iPhone for a variety of reasons and most of the rejections are based on the application containing quality issues or software bugs, while other rejections involve protecting consumer privacy, safeguarding children from inappropriate content and avoiding the applications that seem to degrade the core experience of the iPhone usage. Mainly, this has been due to the volume and variety of technical issues as most of the review process is concerned with quality issues and software bugs and feedback provided to the developers so that they can fix the applications for better and easy usage without any hassles to the iPhone user. The applications that are fixed and resubmitted have been approved by Apple to maintain their status quo in the market .
The following are a list of the representative applications that have been rejected as originally submitted and their current status:
- Twittelator, by Stone Design Corporation, was initially rejected because it crashed during loading, but the developer subsequently fixed the application and it has been approved subsequently.
- iLoveWiFi, by iCloseBy LLC, was rejected because it used undocumented application protocols and it has not been resubmitted in the iPhones till date.
- SlingPlayer Mobile, by Sling Media, was initially rejected because redirecting a TV signal to an iPhone using AT&T cellular network is prohibited by AT&T customer Terms of Service and Agreement. The developer subsequently fixed the application to use WiFi only and it has been approved as well.
- Lingerie Fantasy Video (Lite), by On The Go Girls, LLC, was initially rejected because it displayed nudity and explicit sexual content in it, but the developer subsequently fixed the application and it has been approved with the use of it for users over 17 years of age.

Iphone- Its the most widely used mobile now. No other diminutive device has enthralled the world’s collective conscience in iphone. In the last one year it has accumulated an arguable reputation of being the smartest smart phone and hottest drool gadget on Planet Earth with an incredible bank of over 50’000 tightly integrated applications that span virtually every genre of working, gaming, fooling around, and oh yes taking and making calls. Fortified with Apple’s pedigree for delivering path-breaking and cult-initiating products, tweaked by the thumping reputation of its predecessor triumphs, the third edition of the iphone – the 3GS – launched a few weeks ago in the US and sold over one million handsets in the first three days flat. Now, as it gets ready to debut in India, here’s what you can expect…
In terms of speed and performance, the iphone 3GS is faster that its previous version. (Well, speed is what the S in the moniker stands for). So you can except to surf the web faster, open apps more quickly etc. It’ll also have better – albeit marginally, not phenomenally by all accounts – batter life than its precursor, the 3G.
While the 3GS retains the same screen.from factor and physical dimensions, its memory has been upped to 32GB at the top end. But more than memory what many are more kicked with is its new 3 megapixel autofocus camera. the iphone can finally record – and edit – video now. The autofocus camera n the 3GS auto adjusts exposure, colour and contrst and includes an automatic macro focus for tight, close up shots. In contrast, the previous phone had a fixed focus cemera that lacked any form of video capture.
Also impressive is the new handset’s voice control feature that allows hands free operation of the iphone and its embedded ipod functions. So you can utter appropriate commands aloud into the built – in microphone or handset microphone to dial by name or number and also can play music, speaking out the name of an artiste, album or playlist. A VoiceOver screen reader speaks what appears on the iphone 3GS display there by allowing visually impaired users to make calls, hear their e – mail, “listen to” web pages, and run applications, And for those who ,re interested, the iphone 3GS now also has a new built – in digital compass for instant navigation to add to the functionality of a built – in GPS that already existed.
Should you buy it ? If you already own an iphone 3G, perhaps not. Faster speeds, chunkier storage, a somewhat bettery, voice control and an improved video-enabled camera don’t quite justify junking the previous model. Unless you desperately require one of these key improvements. Upgrading your existing 3G’s OS to 3.0, if you haven,t done so already, should suffice. For those who have yet to own an iphone, wait and watch what price tag finally dangles from the 3GS before you make your decision. But there’s no denying that the iphone is one of the greatest mobile computing revolutions we have witnessed so far.

Anticompetitive: Presently, AT&T and Apple are now under FCC investigation for their black box app approval process. The regulators want to know who killed the iPhone and why voice is different than VOIP apps including, Skype.
Easy Hacking targets: When your software platform is the world leader, the hackers spend their time engineering ways to make your device crash and burn. iPhone has been the subject of several frightening security breaches like the text message vulnerability, which Apple has already fixed.
Google Voice pulls out: When Apple rejected Google Voice (GV) from the App Store including, other GV related apps for which the customers had paid. Now they want refunds and Apple is telling developers that those refunds are supposed to come out of the developers’ pockets.
Downloading mayhem: Apple’s organizational system for downloading apps on the iPhone is terrible. When you download important stuff like the camera on the iPhone and move, the rest tumble into disarray and there aren’t any ways to organize them by name, size or kind.
You can’t find anything on UI. The iPhone’s user interface doesn’t get any better in iTunes, where it’s almost impossible to discover cool new apps easily without initially having to sift through garbage. There are third party sites including, AppBeacon that do help, but the more apps flood the store and iTunes gets more bloated and unwieldy.
Android is much better: Android phones are more gorgeous and functional than the iPhone which is devoid of several features. Android’s in the Open Handset Alliance has a different customization that lets you choose a phone that is built up the way you want.
T-Mobile is cheaper: T-Mobile is a lot cheaper if you check out their plans and rosy offerings. They also offer better customer service and are faster with WiMAX already rolled out in several cities.
Conclusion:
Apple can’t afford customer malice right now and they need to do something substantial to stop iPhone users who are talking about jumping ship. I’m no unilateral hater of iPhone and right beside me lies my precious white 3G S.

This post is a guide to Video Editing Toggle that will help you to install the toggle for Video Editing on the iPhone2G and iPhone 3G. This method that has been posted by iSpazio will enable you to record video using Cycorder, which will end up directly in the photographic film iPhone which can be edited and cut just as iPhone 3GS. The function is regulated by a practical Toggle for SBSettings and then all the details are provided to install the mod.

Note: These Mods are still in the beta version and available for testing purposes only and I am not responsible for any damage. It is mandatory to Backup iPhone Contacts, SMS, Notes & Call History manually, before getting started.
Requirements:
- SBSettings installed on iPhone via Cydia
- OpenSSH installed on iPhone via Cydia
- MobileTerminal installed on iPhone via Cydia
- Cycorder to record video installed on iPhone via Cydia

Posted on 04 August 2009. Tags: Google Voice, iphone, iPhone Integration with Goole Voice
Those of you who closely follow tech news know that there have been quite uproar lately over Google Voice apps on the iPhone which were allowed initially, but now they’re banned. Apple may have made some poor decisions about Google Voice on the iPhone, but if you are still curious about integration between your iPhone and Google Voice, the Google Voice Speed Dial Bookmarklet generator is definitely a useful option for several iPhone users.

The iPhone user (or you) must point the iPhone to http://www.ironicsans.com/gv/ and follow the instructions where a little digging in Voice account to get the proper credentials for the bookmarklet to work is essential. Next, enter in your Google Voice code obtained from above including, your iPhone number and the number of the persons that you intend to call according to your preferences. Now, you need to hit Generate and then the tool will dish out a few more instructions that you will need to follow in order to integrate between iPhone and Google Voice. Finally, you will have a quick-dial bookmark in mobile Safari that you can hit to speed dial specific contacts much faster than going through the mobile Google Voice site. Google Voice, allows you to organize your contacts as Safari bookmarks.
The process of setting up the first phone number takes a few more steps, but after that the rest are easy as you will not have to take the trouble to add everyone from your Address Book, but it’s easy to set up a “Google Voice Faves” folder with all your most-called people. You can arrange them in folders and then dialing from your bookmarks is as simple as dialing from your normal Contacts app where you just tap to dial the required contact or number easily without hindrances. It is a pretty huge task adding all the contacts, but for frequently used numbers it is indeed a great idea that works very well.
The integration between iPhone and Google Voice has worked out well for me though; I have not tested this on other iPhone users. I am confident it will work for you as well as it works for me with a great deal of success. I think it will work equally well as a desktop bookmarklet, thereby making the iPhone a lot more compatible with Google Voice now.

Posted on 03 August 2009. Tags: iphone, iPhone Plug-ins, Safari Download Manager
Safari Download Manager (SDM) allows you to download multiple files simultaneously and also to eliminate those files that are in between according to your preferences. It is a new application available in Cydia Store that manages your downloads within iPhone Safari browser and supports almost every downloadable extension. SDM is similar to YouTube videos and adds a download manager to the bottom bar of Safari, in the iPhone mobile browser. SDM allows you to download data off the Internet and store it on your iPhone or iPod touch local disk in the var or root or Downloads folder.

That’s awesome! Now if SDM could only allow us to choose where to download to each time, which would be perfect and then have them added to the iPod in the phone. But, there is a hitch as well that prevents you from simply streaming the file in MobileSafari. So, for example, if I were to find a song using SeeQPod, instead of just listening to it, I would have to download it, quit Safari, Launch SendFile and hit play.
SDM settings are really well made as you can choose the extensions of files to save and to play in your browser. When you start downloading a file does not mean that you have to do is click on a link and then select the Download item that appears within a window. In SDM when you navigate to an MP3 file and select it, a green Download button appears which must be tapped and the file is downloaded perfectly whereas earlier the QuickTime plug-in would have just played the file back in Safari.
SDM is an easy way to play back these downloaded files using any software which allows you to email, share and play back the downloaded videos on demand, whether or not you are connected to the Internet. When you want to drag a file to another folder and copy it instead of moving it, you hit the Option key when you drag that file and it will be duplicated rather than moved entirely. SDM is the best app that can be put on your iPhone to accentuate file downloads. You can download songs through Safari and then have them added to the iPod in the phone. SDM file downloads costs $ 2 and you can also download it via the BigBoss repository.

The iPhone is not only considered to be a great phone, but also a great pocket computer. It fulfills the phone functionality in every aspect, but iPhone users get so much more functionality out of their purchases what with all smart phones, including the Palm Pre and all of those Android phones, the people who want them are choosing their carriers solely on the basis that the carrier has the device they want according to their preferences.

AT&T’s partnering with Apple, is under review by Christine Varney of the Obama administration in an attempt to determine whether or not the popular smart phone’s exclusive deal with the mobile service provider is a violation of American antitrust law. The iPhone users have always been having issues which are only becoming more and more problematic.
The vast majority of users consider Verizon as the most reliable network with the perception that Verizon is planning on starting its tests of LTE networks around Seattle and Boston this year. LTE is the standard set to replace the current two apps including, CDMA (used by Verizon and Sprint-Nextel) and GSM (used by AT&T and T-Mobile). The LTE networks are expected to get data speeds of 8-12 Mbps bandwidth which is very rare nowadays.
Now that the biggest American CDMA standard is going LTE, Verizon’s LTE plan could be an indication that it will be getting an iPhone sometime in the near future. When Apple made the announcement of launching the iPhone 3GS, it put the blame on AT&T, for being the root cause of the disabling of tethering and MMS on the iPhone OS.
As matter of fact, this does not mean that the fourth-generation iPhone is surely going to be LTE. I have serious apprehensions that Verizon can role out a full-fledged LTE network by next July, when the new iPhone is set to come out. Additionally, Verizon will need to do upgrade its infrastructure before it starts to sell the iPhone. Apple may have made a lot of customers switch to AT&T, but in doing so it severely weakened AT&T’s network as there are now millions of people constantly hammering the network for data.
Conclusion
Finally, the recent investigations into handset exclusivity reveal that Verizon is bound to get the iPhone eventually. There are probably millions of folks waiting to buy an iPhone once it’s available on networks other than AT&T.

There are several apps that you can install and uninstall on your iPhone according to your preferences and their usage value to enhance your iPhone performance to its optimum level. Now, you can easily install or uninstall apps in co-ordination with the .deb file on your iPhone, provided you have jailbreaked and established SSH on your iPhone.

Therefore, you have jailbreaked an iPhone with SSH installed and you have can access the file system of your iPhone completely without any hassles. .deb files are compressed data files that you can expand in a simple method (s) when you satisfy the above conditions and follow the universal process of installing and uninstalling .deb file to your iPhone 2G, 3G or 3GS variations.
Globally, there are only two methods that allow you to install a .deb file but I would highly recommend the first method which much longer than the second method because it is more reliable than the latter one.
.deb File Installation – Method One:
- Initially, SSH into your iPhone using the iPhoneTunnel if your on Windows and Cyberduck if your on Mac Operating System
- Next, copy .deb file into the tmp folder
- You need to quit Cydia if its running
- Hit Ctrl+T in WinSCP and run the following command : dpkg -i /tmp/name.deb (here you need to make sure that you replace the file name: name.deb with the actual name of the deb file)
- Finally, after installation, you can delete the .deb file itself
.deb File Installation – Second Method:
- Initially, SSH your iPhone and go to var or root or Media or Cydia or Auto-install Copy the .deb file there and then reboot your device. Note: If Auto-install folder is not lying in var or root or Media or Cydia then you can create it yourself
Uninstalling .deb File:
When you want to uninstall the .deb file, you simply need to uninstall the app you installed via .deb file. You can also use Cydia, Icy or Cydelete to uninstall from springboard.
The process has been explained briefly to help you in using your iPhone conveniently, while installing and uninstalling .deb file on to your iPhone device.

Palm Pre with its cutting edge tech is leading the way for the best smart phone available and could be a viable alternative to the iPhone. Palm pre is based on Web OS which supports multitasking , thereby making it pioneers in multitasking utilities which is about to change with the Palm Pre 3G.

Palm Pre handsets with the new web OS browsers is a very attractive phone with a good OS and the phone works smoothly with this new software. A detailed comparison of both the Palm Pre and iPhone features should hepl you to decide which is the best smartphone.
- Screen: Both phones have capacitive and multi-touch Screens with the Palm Pre’s glowy little “gesture area” dropping real estate all the way down to the bottom of the phone.
- Multitasking: In Multitasking apps the Palm Pre is the clear winner and the iPhone is far behind.
- Developers : Here, again Palm Pre is leading with webOS because it supports JavaScript, HTML and CSS where as Apple has provided OS X-based SDK.
- Web Integration: Palm Pre with webOS interface integrates your contacts of Facebook, Gmail, IM and and scans for the duplicates also.
- Software Applications : Apple gains the advantage of Third party appllications via App store or Cydia where there are tons of free and paid applications that available for iPhone. It may take some time for Palm Pre to have this type of support.
- 3 MP Camera: The Palm Pre gains another advantage over the iPhone with an LED Flash for its 3MP camera, something which the iPhone lacks. Several users have found the pics good enough despite the fact that pics taken with flash have their shortcomings.
- Keyboard : iPhone gains an advantage with virtual Touch keyboard. Palm Pre has a physical QWERTY Keyboard which complicates a new user’s performance.
- Battery: An Apple iPhone comes with a fixed battery while Palm Pre comes with a spare replacement too.
- Copy and Paste: Palm Pre does both and the iPhone still does not and nothing is expected in the near future.
- Browser: Both iPhone & Palm Pre use the standard mobile web browser based on WebKit.
Conclusion: Apple needs to work on the third generation version of the iPhone to compete with Palm Pre which has a likely potential to grab a good amount of Smart Phone market share.

Jail breaking in most countries is legal, including the US no matters if it is an iPhone or any other phone. Especially in an iPhone, you have to jailbreak it first to get it unlocked however, your warranty becomes null and void according to the forum for consumers rights. If only Apple can prove that the jail breaking of your iPhone is the reason that spoiled your phone they can cancel your warranty. A button falling off of a jail broken phone (which indeed is a rarity and seldom happens) would not be out of warranty just because the phone is jail broken. You can always restore your iPhone to factory settings to claim your warranty.

Jail breaking is not illegal though, Apple would like to make you think it is to avoid honoring the companies warranty commitments including, spares, service or replacement of your handset. There is no question of getting into legal tangles for jail breaking an iPhone or iPod Touch. The agreement between you and apple is official, since it is a commercial exchange where you paid Apple the price for the iPhone and they gave you the handset which is yours officially and with which you can do whatever you want including, jail breaking as well.
Apple has evoked the US Copyright Act stating that jail breaking your iPhone is illegal and filed comments with them on the issue. The Jail breaking community responded to it stating that jail breaking is a fair method when done for purposes of getting adapted to the technicalities of independently created software during emergencies. The jail breakers argue that they are using Apple’s copyrighted code, that allows them functionality that Apple does not provide access to on their own.
Conclusion
Jail breakingand Unlocking an iPhone or any other handset is not illegal but do not use it as a ploy to jailbreak your iPhone. When you buy an iPhone, it is your right to understand the functionality of the handset in order to make optimum use of the device that you possess. Apple could in the future modify their software code to restrict jail braking of iPhones. Until then Happy Jail breaking!!
