Every one of has millions of pics, music data etc on their PC but sometimes when we need them the most they are not there as we cannot carry  them with us where ever we go. Also even if you can somehow get access to those files its difficult to find that particular file you are looking for according to your preferences.

The minimum requirements are:

  • A computer with broadband access
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or higher (32-bits)
  • A supported desktop search application

Initially, you need to do is to install the software on the client PC and connect this PC to internet where a login id and password will be provided and you can login to the PC from your iPhone and is allowed to access the data required.

Security

There are three levels of security:

  1. Your account is protected by a password that is known to you alone
  2. myCopernic is hosted on an HTTPS site to ensure that all your activity is protected against hacking
  3. The communications between the myCopernic connector installed on your computer and our servers are encrypted using SSH protocol

When  you search a file in Windows with its search option, myCopernic on the Go! gives you the desired file in minimum time.

The  desktop search tools support:

  • Windows Desktop Search (XP or Vista)

Note: the size cap for file downloads has been set to 100 MB.

Usability

When you view a document, its format is adapted to fit your iPhone’s display. The emails are sent by the connector installed on your client computer using SMTP. When you do not have the Send by e-mail option, it must be done through the connector options.  there are some documents that may not offer the option to be sent by e-mail, if they are larger than the maximum e-mail size specified in your myCopernic settings.

iPhone Unlocking and Jailbreaking Differences

This article reviews and highlights the difference between iPhone Unlocking and Jailbreaking. When you unlock an iPhone, it allows you to run any cell phone service (Vodafone, AT&T, Digicel etc.) globally and jail breaking allows you to access several apps including, add ringtones, change wallpaper or run similar  (or other) applications of any cell phone service provider on your iPhone device. The file system can be accessed from your computer or mac when you jailbreak an iPhone. Jailbreaking and unlocking an iPhone is given in much detail in the following paragraphs.

apple-iphone

Unlocking an iPhone

When you want to use your iPhone with another GSM carrier, you need to unlock the iPhone. An iPhone in the US, will not connect to any cell phone service other than AT&T, until you unlock it. Unlocking an iphone  involves opening up the iPhone’s modem to accept SIM cards from any cell phone service provider where the base band  processor controls the modem. The base band processor has its own firmware from the main iPhone OS controls which is known as the base band firmware. The baseband firmware unlocks an iPhone by patching out certain bytes where you may bypass the SIM check option. Apple updates the base band firmware on the iPhone  periodically. This can also mean the inability to unlock your iPhone software by decoding the applications that you interact with whenever you use your iPhone to unlock it, in the case of some devices.

Jailbreaking an iPhone

Jailbreaking mainly allows iPhone users to run unofficial code on their  iPhones including,  downloading several applications, mods and hacks which are unavailable in the App Store. Firstly,  the iPhone OS uses the media partition including, music, movies, contacts, App Store apps etc. The OS partition is the space on the iPhone that Apple has locked, but easily accessible, thereby  enabling hacking even more easily and that is where the jail breaking is done. The media partition is usually the size of your iPhone’s memory capacity in which the OS partition occupies minus 500 to 600MB RAM.

Cydia and Icy are some of popular unofficial installers that install several apps including, Winterboard, SBSettings, Tricker 3G and Cycorder. These apps install Themes, accentuate iPhone Settings, run WiFi only app on 3G and Video Recorder for iPhone on 2G and 3G respectively.

Free iPhone Apps

Navigon Lite: version is a great idea that lets the users test the apps routing power, nice UI, and Navteq mapset, all in 1.29GB that takes RAM space on an iPhone. The GPS doesn’t work but it’s marginally useful and definitely worth your time if you’re considering using the full version whenever it comes out and the Euro app is $140.iphone_apps

Absolut Drinkspiration : Drinking apps are both junkware and advertisement apps that are usually a waste of time though, free and nonetheless manages to be pretty good. Mainly, it’s a drink recipe and recommendation app that also accommodates non-vodka listings. Besides, it’ll recommend drinks based on parameters including, taste, time and mood. It’s also got GPS built in so you can upload your mixes and see what others all over the world are drinking and exactly where they’re drinking it.

TroubleSpots: is a tool to report when, where and how your cellular network has failed you. The embedded geodata reports are passed on to AT&T which enables them to know where its network is thin. TroubleSpots usage inadvertently draws you into a secret negative campaign against iPhone apps and complaint forms by, say, T-Mobile. TroubleSpots app is worth its nonexistent price of entry.

Pix Remix, Slideshow Builder : They are both paid slideshow apps which do very similar things including, making Ken Burns-style moving picture shows, share presentations from phone-to-phone or through a web interface and neither can export presentation into common slideshow formats including, PowerPoint and Keynote. Prowl iPhone App:Notify Gmail to your iPhone

Prowl iPhone app notifies Gmail notifications to your iPhone in conjunction with Growl, the global notification application for Macs. iphone-gmail

How Prowl Works?

Prowl can push Gmail notifications to your iPhone if you have Growl set up to display new Gmail notifications. Prowl just does not work with Gmail, it works with anything that Growl does.

Prowl with Growl Installation

First, you need to install Growl (download and install Growl) as a new preference pane in the System Preferences of your Mac. Prowl doesn’t even require an email address to register for an account. After registration download the Prowl plug-in for Growl, unzip it and double-click the Prowl(dot)growlView file to install the Prowl plug-in to Growl.

When you set Prowl as your display notification type, you still get to choose what your Growl notifications will look like on Prowl iPhone app. This includes  anything from your IM client to your iTunes notifier and Gmail. You can also do so through Prowl display options menu.

Gmail Notifier Installation with Growl and Prowl

First, you need to install the Google Notifier for Mac and download the Google+Growl plug-in for Google Notifier, unzip it and install the Google+Growl Utility to your Applications folder. When you run it, this little utility notifies any new email updates to your Prowl iPhone app. Ensure Prowl is set as the default display style, then click the Notifications tab.

For example: you will get a notification that your BitTorrent client just finished downloading that movie while you’re picking up dinner or shopping. It is important to remember that you need to keep Google+Growl running in the background for the whole system to work.

Conclusion

The Prowl approach seems like another very solid iPhone app where it doesn’t require you to hand over any user names or passwords to a third party, since the notifications are all coming from your computer and it can work with all sorts of notifications that Growl already supports.

Whenever an application sends a notification to Growl, Growl sends that notification to Prowl’s servers, which in turn sends a push notification to your Prowl iPhone app. However, in order for it to work consistently, you’ll need to have an always-on computer to push your Growl notifications to your iPhone. You can downloaded Prowl to your iPhone for $3 price tag which is pretty cheap.

An introduction to OffMaps iPhone program

I have gone down through the other “innovations” in iPhone and would like to introduce you to OffMaps iPhone program. This application enables you to travel around the world in probably eighty seconds. The specialty of this application is not what’s important about the iPhone. Yes, it’s the first visual display of the earth so you can randomly move among nations, cities, streets and by-lanes etc.

The visuals in OffMaps have been displayed with pin point accuracy and made accessible the world to all iPhone users, especially, tourists. I am talking about hand-held devices with more computer power than the Apollo spacecraft that took us to the moon. That’s the genius of Steve Jobs; that’s the genius of Apple for assembling this very useful process in one device.

What’s more interesting here is one of the fundamental principles of interface at work. The interface is clean, simple and OffMaps is easy to use as it tracks the areas (offline maps) completely with sufficient zoom level. Again, the orientation-sensor makes it easy to watch pics as intended. Another value addition is that you can save and store the map in your iPhone. You are able to download as many maps as you like for any area at no extra cost. In order to access maps offline you have to select and download once because OffMaps does not come with preloaded maps. OffMaps has two modes including, an online and an offline mode.

The OffMaps helps travelers to figure out that they are 1 block or 1000 miles from there next destination. The mapping information tag with the scheduler and the application apparently display a lot of integration and then gives you turn-by-turn guidance to actually get there. One can Find a Starbucks location and get to that location instantly. The OffMaps application aids the user to “know” where I am.
