The race for downloading Firefox 3.5 is on.
Firefox holds the World record in Guiness Book for the maximum number of down loads in a day, for its version Firefox 3.0 which touched 8 million.
When last reported on the net it was downloaded 1.3 million times. The down load rate then was hovering between 50 to 100 down loads per second.
Although it has not been announced officially After 24 hrs after its release ( we presume) more than 3 million Firefox 3.5 were down loaded and the rate of down loads was hovering between 40 and 55.
This is by no means a mean achievement considering the competition Fire Fox was facing. For e.g it was publicized that Safari was down loaded by 11 million people in 3 days. This included the users of earlier versions but the interesting fact about Safari was that of the 11 million downloads 6 million were windows based users.
So Mozilla must have had an element of doubt as to its performance. But the way Firefox 3.5 is standing up to competition it should touch 8 -9 million in 3 days.
The verdict seems to be in favor of Firefox that it has not been cowed down by competition and has been able to stand its ground.
